Torie cats are found in all different colors and patterns, but they are mostly black and ginger, which touches cream, gold, orange, and white. Torie’s color palette can either be brindled or patched, which is when the colors are blended.

They have a chimera appearance, which means they have a different color on one side of the body (ginger) and a different color on the other side (black).

3. Eye Color

These cats have eye colors of various shades of hazel, green, or amber, but these cats have different colors.

4. Biology And Health

There are no health conditions linked to the color of torie fur. Around 99.6% of torie cats are female and making males rare, and the reason for this comes down to chromosomes.

Just like humans, female torie cats have two X chromosomes while males have both X and Y chromosomes.

If a male torie is born, it may because they have an extra strand of DNA with an X chromosome. Unluckily, this chromosome does imbalance and makes male torties sterile.

5. Weight Range

Want to know the weight range of torie cats? First of all, you will need to know their breed. A veterinarian can let you know the breed of tortoiseshell through an immediate exam.

The veterinarian will also determine the cat’s age, overall health, activity level, and healthy weight range as well.

For instance, adult Maine coons (one of the larger cat breeds) are average 5lbs to 25lbs, while female Maine coons are 11 lbs. to 20 lbs. American shorthair females average 6 lbs. to 12 lbs while males average 11 lbs. to 15 lbs.

6. Life Expectancy

Similar weight, the life expectancy of a torie cat depends on many factors like their breed. Though, keeping cats inside the home can help them live longer.

As per some official reports, cats that are kept indoors can live up to 17 years or more, while many outdoor cats have a life of 2 to 5 years.

7. Personality

Coat color is not an indication of personality, but studies have revealed torie cats to have a few different characteristics.

Veterinarians of California University surveyed more than 1200 cat owners and found that torie coats and cats with calico are more likely to scratch, chase, swat, bite, or hiss when interacting with their humans.
