Myths About

With Such Popularity has come unwanted publicity as some people believe that black cats are associated with evil or bad luck. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Just like any other cat, black cats can be mischievous and even temperamental, but the majority of black cats are very loving and affectionate. Some of them may be hesitant to strangers and will often attempt to hide from them. This is only normal in a new environment, and black cats will quickly become adjusted to their surroundings once they begin to feel at home. With a black cat in your household, you’ve got the perfect chance to celebrate both ASPCA Black Cat Celebration Day in June and National Black Cat Day in October.

Like any other breed, black cat breeds have a number of physical traits that make them more likely to have health problems. They are prone to developing tumors on their eyelids and around their ears, and they can suffer from eyelash loss, hair loss, under-eye irritation, ear infection, skin rash and sometimes even flea infestation. These pets may sometimes spend a lot of time outdoors as well, which can lead to ticks, fleas and even Rocky Mountain spotted fever. While these felines may live a long and happy life, it’s important that they’re properly taken care of.

Grooming Is Often A Very Difficult Proce

Because black cats have a short coat that doesn’t grow long, grooming is often a very difficult process. When looking for a pet, keep in mind that there are a number of different types of feline coats and that they each require different grooming techniques in order to maintain their beautiful appearance. Some of the most popular black cat breeds are British Short hair, Mexican hair, Abyssinian hair and the American short hair. All of these coats have different characteristics and require different methods of care. However, each of them have one thing in common, great, shiny coats that make these pets even more lovable.

Regular Brushing Is Necessary

In order to keep your black cats looking their best, regular brushing is necessary to prevent mats, tangles and hairball accumulation. Along with this, be sure to brush your cat at least twice each day, once in the morning and again in the evening. Be sure to choose an appropriate brush that is designed for cats of varying coat colors. For example, if your cat is a tabby, you’ll want to go with a brush that is made especially for felines with short fur.
